A new Texas driver license and identification card with enhanced security features was launched in April.
It is all part of the combat against counterfeiting, photo swapping, tampering and other types of fraud.
But currently the licenses are being piled up in Austin. Instead of the 10 days it used to take to receive a license, it might take a month or more.
Some of the delay was expected, says Tela Mange, a DPS spokeswoman. But the main reason is that a computer virus recently infected critical computers.
