Massachusetts Learner’s Permit Exam
Most new drivers are required to pass a written knowledge test (a Learner’s Permit exam) and a road test, either when applying for an instruction permit or a driver’s license. These tests prove that you can operate a motor vehicle safely and within the law.
Topics covered on the exam include alcohol misuse, suspensions, violations, rules of the road and identifying road signs.
A Learner’s Permit exam has 25 multiple-choice questions. You must answer 18 questions correctly within the allotted time of 25 minutes.
Of course, the Driver’s Manual and other reference materials are not to be used during the exam. They are not allowed at all in the testing area. If you are caught cheating, or trying to cheat, on an exam, you will fail and you will not be allowed to hold any type of driver’s license or permit for 60 days. In some cases, you may also be subject to further investigation.
You should prepare for the test by studying the Massachusetts State Driver’s Manual carefully, and by taking practice tests. You must pass the knowledge test before scheduling a road test.
The Free Preparation Tests at licenseroute.com
Our tests are based on Massachusetts Driver’s Manual, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) issued by the Federal Highway Administration and State laws. Each test consists of 25 questions, and you must correctly answer 20 questions to pass. We recommend that you take at least 5-10 practice tests and reach 23 correct answers on each test before taking a real test.
Remember, you can take your preparation test over and over again. You will get a new set of randomly selected questions each time.
